Activity: “Click, Clack, You: Kids Who Write”

Free Downloadable Worksheet Inspired by Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type

ClickClackMoo-CUFAB-Hero

At first Farmer Brown doesn’t want to give in to his cows’ demands—no electric blankets for them! But eventually, the cows’ letters persuade him to take their request seriously.

After reading Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type with your students, download this free printable “Click, Clack, You: Kids Who Write” persuasive letter writing activity. Students can decide what they want to ask for, then do their best to convince someone to grant their request.

Teacher Tip

Encourage students to put themselves in the shoes of the person receiving their letter. What would make them want to fill their request?

This activity was inspired by curriculum writer Megan Mitchell and first grade teacher Jennifer Briggs. To discover more ways you can use Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type with your students, watch their Teacher Share video in Book Talks.

What did your students try to persuade someone to do? If you’re able, please share their letters with the Scholastic Book Clubs community on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.

A Note from Judy

What’s the recipe for a perfect read-aloud? A pinch of perseverance and a dollop of fun! The Book of the Week is Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao written by Kat Zhang and illustrated by Charlene Chua.

Join the Book Boys as they learn how to make their own bao in an original music video; watch an exclusive interview with author Kat Zhang in Behind the Scenes; discover how one teacher uses Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao in her classroom in Book Talks; and download a free printable “My Perfect Recipe” sequencing activity in Cooked Up from a Book.

We hope that Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao inspires you and your students to never give up on trying something new, because practice makes perfect!
