Book Boys Brain Break: I Got the Rhythm

Dance to the Beat of the Street!

The Book Boys got the rhythm! How about you?

After reading the Book of the Week—I Got the Rhythm, written by Connie Schofield-Morrison and illustrated by Frank Morrison—Allister, Elliott, and Max are joined by some student friends to try and find the beat of their own streets in a new classroom-friendly music video. Play it for your class after recess or lunch to help your students get out extra energy so they can focus on the great lessons ahead!

We Suggest:

1. Read aloud the Book of the Week, I Got the Rhythm.

2. Encourage your students to stand up and dance along to the Book Boys music video!

3. Open up a conversation about the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes that your students experience on a given day.

What forms of rhythm did your students find in everyday things? If you’re able, please share with the Scholastic Book Clubs community on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.

Meet the Book Boys

Allister, Elliott, and Max are three friends who work at Scholastic Book Clubs and love books—and they want to inspire students to love them too and see themselves as readers! Each week, you can watch the Book Boys perform a brand-new fun, educational, and engaging song and Brain Break activity to get students excited about the Book of the Week. Play the Book Boys videos in your classroom (or at home) to help your students connect to the story and explore the exciting world of reading.
