These Boys Can Rhyme All the Time!
by Traci Swain
After reading the rhymes in Bobs and Tweets: The New Dog in Town by Pepper Springfield, illustrated by Kristy Caldwell, Allister, Elliott, and Max break down their favorite parts of the book and go on a rhyming spree of their own—and have their furry four-legged friends join in the fun!
Watch their three-minute video with your students to meet some adorable fur babies and to discover what the Book Boys love about the Book of the Week:
• Adventure: The Book Boys love unraveling the surprise and mystery around who left the dog Jack at Dean Bob’s front door…and why!
• Community: Allister, Elliott, and Max are all impressed by the way the kids on Bonefish Street organize and mobilize to help get Jack home.
• Companionship: After seeing how much Jack’s companionship means to Jen’s grandma Fran, the Book Boys introduce their trusty companions: Monty, Moony, and Ari.
Do your students have pets? Why are their pets such special companions to them? We’d love to hear from you! If you’re able, please share your students’ answers (or pictures, with their grown-ups’ permission) on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.
