Even the Book Boys Have Bad Days!
by Traci Swain
Uh-oh! Max’s day is off to a rough start. Fortunately, his friends Allister and Elliott are there to share a book that just might help—and show Max that he’s not alone.
Play this fun video for your class to get students excited to read the Book of the Week, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, the popular classic by Judith Viorst, illustrated by Ray Cruz.
In the video…
• Max tells Elliott and Allister exactly why he is having a horrible day.
• Allister encourages Max to give the Book of the Week a chance…before he packs his bags for Australia!
• Elliott recounts the major, relatable events of the story.
Can your class relate to Max’s and Alexander’s bad days? Do your students have ideas for how they could set themselves up for better days? We’d love to hear from you! If you’re able, please share what your class thinks with us on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.
The Book Boys work in different departments at Scholastic Book Clubs. They formed a group to share a wide range of books and introduce students to the world of reading. Each week, the Book Boys select a book to feature. They make stories come alive by creating fun, educational, and engaging videos for teachers and families to use in the classroom or at home. The Book Boys, like everyone at Scholastic Book Clubs, want all kids to love to read and be proud to declare: “I am a reader!”
