A Great White Shark Makes Friends
![]() |
Making friends can be challenging…especially if you’re a great white shark! Fortunately, the Book Boys—and some very special guests—have a great friend-making strategy to share with your students, whether they live in the ocean or on land.
Take a brain break to sing and dance along to the Book Boys’ fun, uplifting song that’s inspired by the Book of the Week, Finding a Friend by Traci Swain, illustrated by Kadysha. Encourage your students to tell their classmates something about themselves to help build new friendships or strengthen old ones.
Brain breaks are a great way to help students renew their focus and get out some excess energy! Try sharing this class-friendly video with your students for a fun way to break up the day.
We Suggest:
1. Read aloud Finding a Friend
2. Share the Book Boys’ music video after lunch or recess and encourage your students to dance along
3. Encourage students to share fun facts about themselves with their classmates
If you’re able, please share on Facebook and Instagram your students’ favorite stories about how they make friends. Please use the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.
