Book Boys Brain Break: Fox the Tiger

Sing and Dance and Celebrate You!

Play this upbeat, self-esteem-boosting song to give your students a brain break inspired by the Book of the Week, Fox the Tiger by Corey R. Tabor. In the music video, Book Boy Allister is a fox who wishes he was a tiger, and Book Boys Max and Elliott help show him—and all kid readers—that he should embrace who he really is!

Brain breaks provide an excellent opportunity to help students recharge and refocus between lessons, or after lunch or recess. Try playing this kid-friendly video in your class to help spark a love of reading.

We Suggest:

1. Read aloud Fox the Tiger

2. Share the Book Boys’ music video and encourage your students to think about why they are happy being who they are

3. Afterward, have a class dialogue about a time your students wished they could be someone else

If you’re able, please share why your students are happy to be themselves on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.

Meet the Book Boys

Allister, Elliott, and Max are three friends who work at Scholastic Book Clubs and love books—and they want to share the joy of reading with your students! New this school year: every week, you can watch the Book Boys performing a brand-new fun, educational, and engaging song and Brain Break activity to get students excited about the Book of the Week. Play the Book Boys videos in your classroom (or at home) to help your students connect to the story and explore the exciting world of reading.

A Note from Judy

Dragons are huge fans of tacos—as long as they don’t have one secret, spicy ingredient! The Book of the Week is the laugh-out-loud, fun-to-read-together picture book Dragons Love Tacos, written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri!

Dance to an original song with the Book Boys; discover the many ways that one first grade teacher uses Dragons Love Tacos with her students in Book Talks; read an exclusive interview with Adam Rubin in Behind the Scenes; and download a free printable “Dragons Love My Tacos!” recipe activity in Cooked Up from a Book that also helps students practice sequencing.

We hope that your younger readers have a blast with Dragons Love Tacos—and remember: no salsa!
