Power Pose for a Confidence Boost
Everybody needs a confidence boost sometimes—and the Book Boys are here to share a simple but potent strategy for shaking off insecurity: power posing!
Take a brain break with the Book Boys and play this student-friendly video for your class. Watch Allister, Elliott, and Max demonstrate how to power pose, then perform their newest original song inspired by the Book of the Week, Tiny Rabbit’s Big Wish by Margarita Engle, illustrated by David Walker.
Teachers tell us they like to incorporate brain breaks between lessons or after recess or lunch to help students refocus and get reenergized. It only takes a few minutes to try a brain break—see how it can support student learning!
1. Read aloud Tiny Rabbit’s Big Wish.
2. Start a classroom conversation about having confidence in yourself, then play the Book Boys Brain Break video and encourage students to try their own power poses!
3. Afterward, ask students for other strategies they use for boosting self-confidence.
Allister, Elliott, and Max are three friends who work at Scholastic Book Clubs and love books—and they want to share the joy of reading with your students! New this school year: every week, you can watch the Book Boys in a brand-new fun, educational, and engaging video to give students a brain break and get excited about the Book of the Week. Play the Book Boys videos in your classroom (or at home) to help your students connect to the story and explore the exciting world of reading.
