Malcolm Shares the Magic of Reading!
by Traci Swain
“Reading can take you anywhere.…Through reading, you can accomplish your goals, and reading can help you become the best version of yourself.” —Malcolm Mitchell
When Malcolm Mitchell was a kid in Valdosta, Georgia, he thought the only path to a successful future was through sports. But after accomplishing his athletic dreams—and becoming a football champion—he realized that as important as it is to strengthen your body through athletics, it’s equally important to strengthen your mind through reading!
Today, Malcolm is a literacy advocate who dedicates his time to encouraging kids in all communities to find the joy of reading. Watch this video interview with your students to discover:
• Malcolm’s personal journey, from being a reluctant reader as a kid to the literacy crusader he is today
• How My Very Favorite Book in the Whole Wide World changed through the development process (the original title was The Book Boy!)
• Why Malcolm absolutely loves reading—and thinks you should too
