Inspired by Who Would Win? Ultimate Shark Rumble
by Alana Pedalino
Jerry Pallotta chose his top shark—now, it’s your students’ turn!
Inspired by third grade teacher Avery Lieske in this week’s Book Talks teacher review video, we put together a fun creative activity, “The Most Amazing Shark Ever!” In it, students pick their favorite shark from Who Would Win? Ultimate Shark Rumble and create a billboard that details why their pick is the real shark champion!

This activity is a great way to help your students practice reading comprehension, creativity, and persuasive writing.
The activity can also fit into a broader discussion about Who Would Win? Ultimate Shark Rumble to let kids practice additional skills such as comparing and contrasting, making predictions, using text evidence, and more!
Assess your students by asking them the following:
• Which shark do you think will be the ultimate champion? Use text evidence to support your answer.
• Pick two sharks and compare and contrast their anatomy and behavior.
• What would happen if a thresher shark and a hammerhead shark went head-to-head? Who do you predict would win? Use text evidence to support your answers.
• What is the most shocking fact you learned about your favorite shark?
