Book Boys Present: The Good Egg

Book Boys Rock Out to an Original Song

by Traci Swain

No one’s perfect all the time—not even the Book Boys! So when the world starts feeling overwhelming, Allister, Elliott, and Max know how important it is to take some time for themselves.…So important, in fact, that they collaborated with their friend and musician Aaron Steinberg to create a song about it!

Play this upbeat original track for your students. It’s inspired by the Book of the Week: The Good Egg, written by Jory John and illustrated by Pete Oswald. Students can sing and dance along, and the song will help them remember to respect their own emotions and practice self-care.

Plus professional musicians can download the printable lyrics sheet to re-create the song themselves:

Did your students enjoy this song inspired by The Good Egg? We’d love to hear from you! If you’re able, please share any videos or pictures on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.

If your students love the positive vibes in The Good Egg, be sure to check out the hilarious Book Boys video for The Bad Seed (a previous Book of the Week).

Meet the Book Boys: Allister, Elliott, and Max

The Book Boys work in different departments at Scholastic Book Clubs. They formed a group to share a wide range of books and introduce students to the world of reading. Each week, the Book Boys select a book to feature. They make stories come alive by creating fun, educational, and engaging videos for teachers and families to use in the classroom or at home. The Book Boys, like everyone at Scholastic Book Clubs, want all kids to love to read and be proud to declare: “I am a reader!”

A Note from Judy

Dragons are huge fans of tacos—as long as they don’t have one secret, spicy ingredient! The Book of the Week is the laugh-out-loud, fun-to-read-together picture book Dragons Love Tacos, written by Adam Rubin and illustrated by Daniel Salmieri!

Dance to an original song with the Book Boys; discover the many ways that one first grade teacher uses Dragons Love Tacos with her students in Book Talks; read an exclusive interview with Adam Rubin in Behind the Scenes; and download a free printable “Dragons Love My Tacos!” recipe activity in Cooked Up from a Book that also helps students practice sequencing.

We hope that your younger readers have a blast with Dragons Love Tacos—and remember: no salsa!
