The Book Boys Spill the Tea!
by Alexie Basil and Traci Swain
Listen in with your students as the Book Boys discuss their favorite moments from The View from Saturday by E. L. Konigsburg to inspire thoughtful conversations in your own classroom.
Put the kettle on—the Book Boys are here to spill the tea about The View from Saturday!
Just like the four sixth graders in E. L. Konigsburg’s novel—or “The Souls,” as they called themselves—Allister, Elliott, and Max love getting together and having thoughtful discussions over tea.
Watch their exclusive video with your students to find out what they love most about The View from Saturday, including:
• Why Mrs. Olinksi is Max’s favorite character
• How Elliott thought the different perspectives weaves the lives of the characters together
• What Allister considers to be the most important themes in the book
After you play the video, encourage your students to have book talks of their own! What did they love most about The View from Saturday? We’d love to hear from you. Please share with us on social media using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.
These three guys from different departments at Scholastic Book Clubs formed a book group. Each week, they choose a new book to read together. Then they meet, discuss, and create fun and entertaining videos to help kids discover—and relate to—titles offered by Scholastic Book Clubs.
While the Book Boys come from diverse backgrounds and were definitely different growing up, they all have one thing in common: they really want to get kids excited about books and reading.
