To celebrate back to school, the Book Boys get schooled…in names! Just like the titular star of Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, Allister, Elliott, and Max learn that every name has its own special meaning.
School is back in session, which means it’s time to put new names to new faces. And after discovering the meaning behind Chrysanthemum’s name, the Book Boys are super curious to find out more about other people’s names too.
If only they had access to a…hmmm…a what?
Introducing Max and Elliott’s Big Red Magic Guest Simulator Portal Button—the BRMGSPB or Big Red Button for short. Soon all the interns zap! into the guys’ book cave to share the awesome significance of their own names.
Play this video for your students to help kick off a fun back-to-school icebreaker. It will help launch a class discussion about:
• The importance of taking the time to learn how to pronounce a name correctly.
• Fascinating meanings behind a name—personal and cultural!
Then just like the guys and their friends from Scholastic, your students can share what their name means to them!
Teachers, you can participate too! Share how cool your name is on social media using the hashtag #ScholasticBookClubs.

These three guys from different departments at Scholastic Book Clubs formed a book group. Each week, they choose a new book to read together. Then they meet, discuss, and create fun and entertaining videos to help kids discover titles offered by Scholastic Book Clubs.
While the Book Boys come from diverse backgrounds and were definitely different growing up, they all have one thing in common: they really want to get kids excited about books and reading.
