Time to Play Drawing with Duckies!
by Traci Swain
Invite students to watch this exclusive video of Ross Burach describing his drawing process and his never-before-seen sketch of a plow full of cows—then create their own illustrations inspired by Truck Full of Ducks.
Your students may have drawn with markers, pencils, and crayons…but have they ever tried Drawing with Duckies?
Ross Burach—creator of The Very Impatient Caterpillar, There’s a Giraffe in My Soup, and Truck Full of Ducks—visits the Scholastic Book Clubs studio to take you behind the scenes into his drawing process. Plus he shares a super-fun drawing prompt challenge and a wacky original sketch of his very own—a plow full of cows!
Tune in with your students to try this activity in your own classroom and practice important skills like creativity, fine motor skills, and imaginative thinking.
Looking for tips on how to get started? See a step-by-step walk-through of the activity in Cooked Up from a Book.
