Announcing a New Book from Diary of a Wimpy Kid Creator Jeff Kinney
Hey, Wimpy Kid fans! Exciting news (as revealed on the Today show and in this cartoon press release): Jeff Kinney is coming out with a surprise new book, Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid, releasing on April 9. Want to be one of the first to read this “biography” of Greg Heffley? Preorder it now from Scholastic Book Clubs!
Greg Heffley has been chronicling his middle school years in 13 Diary of a Wimpy Kid journals…and counting. Now, it’s time for readers to hear from Greg’s trusty best friend, Rowley Jefferson, in a journal of his own.
In Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal, Rowley agrees to take on the role of his pal’s biographer because one day, “Greg is going to be rich and famous and he says everyone will want to know his whole life story so they can make movies about him and stuff.”
But it turns out Rowley is a poor choice for the job, and his “biography” of Greg says more about himself than it does about his best friend.
“Publishing Rowley Jefferson’s side of the story is truly AWESOME!” says Michael Jacobs, president and CEO of Abrams Children’s Books, the publisher of Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid. “Jeff Kinney’s power to excite, engage, and expand his fans’ worlds is evident in the amazing sales of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, which has made reading fun for millions of kids around the globe. Now, that experience will be doubled with the introduction of Rowley Jefferson’s own voice. I can already hear the kids, parents, educators, and booksellers shouting with joy and delight.”
We couldn’t be happier to give Scholastic Book Clubs teachers and families the chance to preorder Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid: Rowley Jefferson’s Journal. It offers readers a new way to look at the Wimpy world—one fans won’t want to miss!
