Ferdinand Hits the Classroom Stage!
A Student Skit Inspired by The Story of Ferdinand
by Alexie Basil and Jamie Turak
There’s something special about The Story of Ferdinand that inspires readers’ imaginations—including getting into costume and character and acting out the story!
At the Eleanor Van Gelder School in Edgewater, New Jersey, we tasked Annmarie Grieco’s third grade class with putting on a small class play starring the winsome young bull. Well, they couldn’t have delivered more! We wrote the script, but they really brought it to life in a fun and exciting way.
Check out the video above. If you’re interested in performing the skit with your own class, download the script below and go at it! (If you have fewer students than what’s indicated, don’t be afraid to get creative and revise it to suit your needs.)
We’d love to see what your class acts out. Record or photograph your students’ performance and post on social media tagging #ScholasticBookClubs.
