by Patrick Clark
Interested in some fun ways to bring E. L. Konigsburg’s Newbery-winning classic to life for your students? From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler is fourth grade teacher Enrico Amutan’s favorite book, so he’s well prepared to offer up some great suggestions to fellow teachers, including:
• Have students design game boards based on Jamie and Claudia’s adventures.
• Use Google Maps to make a list of New York City landmarks your students want to visit.
• Ask students to write an extra chapter of the book imagining what it might be like for the Kincaid children to reunite with Mrs. Frankweiler.
Watch this video for all of Enrico’s tips on how to make the most of reading this all-time favorite in your classroom and keep students enthralled!
